Welcome to my personal website. I am a Marine Engineering professional, holding certificates issued by Transport Canada and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority; I work around the world, on commercial ships. My spouse and I raise three young boys from our home on the West Coast of Canada, on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia.
Since completing a formal Marine Engineering Apprenticeship in Vancouver in 1999, I have worked on numerous types of large commercial ships, as a ship’s Engineering Officer. I currently sail as Chief Engineer of a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge, operating in Central and Eastern Canada, as well as internationally.
Martin’s Marine Engineering Page – www.dieselduck.net is probably what I am most known for in professional circles. It is a website that offers a large collection of marine engineering resource, including numerous articles, pictures, videos, links etc, which are sure to benefit “new”, seasoned mariners, and ship enthusiasts. I started this hobby in 1999, and continue to maintain the website, which gets about 25,000 visits every month from all parts of the world.
I join my partner, Julie, on our journey through life with our three sons.
